HYROX IN HAYLE, WEST CORNWALL
Hyrox is 8km of running paired with 8 functional stations — and it’s taken the fitness world by storm. At Heyl CrossFit, every Hyrox session is coach-led and built around the exact demands of the race. Whether you’ve already got a race in the diary or you’ve never heard of a sled push, we scale every workout to where you are right now — so you train smart, build real fitness, and turn up to the start line ready.
Who is Hyrox for?
Hyrox is built for everyday people, not just elite athletes. If you can run and you’re willing to work, you can do it. Most of our members aren’t ex-competitors — they’re busy people who wanted something real to train for, runners looking to get stronger, and complete beginners who liked the idea of a clear goal instead of aimless gym sessions.
And there’s no skill barrier to clear before you start. No complicated lifts to learn first — just running, pushing, pulling, carrying and squatting. Movements your body already knows, coached and scaled to give you exactly the right challenge. Sign up for a race or just train like you might. Either way, you’ll get fitter, faster and stronger for life.
Benefits
WHY TRAIN FOR HYROX AT HEYL CROSSFIT?
COACHING BUILT AROUND THE RACE
Every session is programmed against the real demands of Hyrox — the runs, the stations, and the brutal transitions in between. Your coach teaches you how to pace, push and recover, so you’re not just fit, you’re race-ready.
TRAIN ON THE REAL STATIONS
SkiErg, sled, rower, wall balls, sandbags — the kit most gyms don’t have, set up the way you’ll meet it on race day. You train on the actual movements instead of guessing how they’ll feel under fatigue.
People who make you want to show up
Training for Hyrox is a lot easier when you’re not doing it alone. You’ll graft alongside people chasing the same goal, cheer each other through the hard bits, and find the kind of community that turns a workout into the best hour of your day.
WHAT IS HYROX?
Hyrox is a fitness race anyone can enter, and it’s the same anywhere in the world. No obstacles to dodge, no surprises — just 8 x 1km runs, each followed by one functional station, in the same fixed order every time:
- 1km run → SkiErg (1,000m)
- 1km run → Sled Push (50m)
- 1km run → Sled Pull (50m)
- 1km run → Burpee Broad Jumps (80m)
- 1km run → Rowing (1,000m)
- 1km run → Farmers Carry (200m)
- 1km run → Sandbag Lunges (100m)
- 1km run → Wall Balls (75 or 100 reps)
There’s no time limit, and four ways to take it on — solo (Open or Pro), with a partner (Doubles), or as a team of four (Relay) — so there’s a start line for every level. We train you for all of it.

Hyrox Training FAQs
Do I need to sign up for a race to train here?
Not at all. Plenty of our members train for Hyrox because they love the format and the goal it gives them — race or no race. If you do want to compete, we’ll help you pick one and get you ready.
I've never done Hyrox — is it really for beginners?
Yes. There are no skill movements to master before you start, and everything scales. We’ve coached people from their first-ever session through to crossing a finish line.
What if I can't run very far yet?
That’s exactly what the training builds. We start where you are and grow your running and strength together — the whole point is to get you fitter than you walked in.
Do I need to be strong or have gym experience?
No. The stations use natural movements — pushing, pulling, carrying, squatting. We coach the technique and load it to your level from day one.
How is this different from CrossFit?
CrossFit varies the workout every day across a huge range of skills. Hyrox is one fixed format — run plus functional stations — so training is about sharpening those specific demands. Many of our members do both.
