Lou Wilson

My huge love for sport and fitness started with rowing at secondary school. I was quickly hooked on endurance sport and have since rowed competitively for Cambridge University, completed 3 Ironman Triathlons, competed as a GB age-group duathlete, and run several ultra-marathons including the South Downs Way 100 miles in 2022. I discovered CrossFit at Heyl in 2019 and never looked back. After years of endurance sport the new challenges of weightlifting and gymnastics, the constant variation, plus the incredible community and fun of classes, had me quickly addicted! It’s proved a great compliment to my running and, in my 40s, I now feel stronger, more capable and less prone to injuries than ever. I also love that there is always more to progress and learn. My next goals include a bar muscle up and a solid free-standing handstand.

Outside the gym I love running the Cornish coast path, cold water dunks, fresh veggie food, a good, strong coffee, and raising my two crazy kids!

Lou’s qualifications:

CrossFit Level 1 Trainer
CrossFit Kids Trainer
Level 3, Personal Trainer
Precision Nutrition, PN Level 1 Certified
Gold Medallist, Fitness Trainer, WorldSkills UK, 2018

Sophie

Sophie joined Heyl CrossFit at their open day and never looked back, becoming their “longest standing member” and gaining a great relationship with the coaches. Sophie showed great passion and determination to continue learning and becoming an all round athlete.

Sophie showed a great eye for detail always wanting to know how and why movements were being taught and used in that way. Learning all the key elements of crossfit from the foundational to more complex movements.

Sophie started as a scaled Athlete and has slowly worked her way towards RX movements. From the start always working on mobility and flexibility as Sophie understood to become a better athlete these were key components every crossfitter will need.

After spending three years as a member Sophie knew she wanted to start helping people and started to look into becoming a Nutritionist. Sophie has a real passion for cooking and helping people become better versions of themselves.

Sophie is a certified Nutritionist and specialises in Sports nutrition, nutrition in older adults, weight management and pre and postnatal nutrition.

Sophie had been given a fantastic opportunity from head coach Ted, gaining her level 1 CrossFit qualification as well as obtaining her crossfit judges course, a specialised dumbbell course, spot the flaw, masters and programming course.

Sophie has recently become a mother for the second time and understands the process in how to train pre and postnatal. Sophie is currently undertaking further education in pre and post natal coaching. This is something she is especially proud and passionate to be a part of. Sophie enjoys empowering people of all abilities in pursuing the fitness goals no matter how big or small they might be.
